the o´s

the О´s badges include themes that concern us in our artistic activities: light and optics, processes of viewing and picture stories. They carry found images, the artists’ own photos and pictograms. the O´s badges are wearable details of the visual perceptible world. Their round shape resembles excerpts of the environment as we know it from microscopes, telescopes and kaleidoscopes.  the O´s badges are offered in pairs because they portray images that refer to each other. The choice of whether to wear them on clothes, hats, bags or belts etc is up to the individual…
…and they are collection items – as a collection starts the moment one piece is added to another.

Die beiden Künstlerinnen Christina dePian und Hanna Schimek haben das Reizvolle am Runden entdeckt! Ihre unter dem Label the O´s hergestellten Buttons werden paarweise angeboten, und sie tragen Bilder die aufeinander Bezug nehmen. Ihre Anordnung auf Kleidern, Hüten, Taschengurten ist individuell der Trägerin oder dem Träger überlassen. ...und sie sind Sammelobjekte - denn eine Sammlung beginnt in dem Moment, ab dem zu einem Stück ein zweites hinzugefügt wird.

Eine von the O´s für das Institut für Kulturkonzepte speziell entwickelte Serie von Buttonpaaren widmet sich dem Thema der Kommunikation und  wurde mit Fotografien von Orthochrome  – Archiv für analoge Alltagsfotografie kombiniert.
