Das Projekt am rand :
die stadt ging 2019 in die zweite Runde. Ziel war es auch diesmal, private Filme und Videos, welche die Stadt Wien buchstäblich oder sinnbildlich am/vom Rand abbilden, zu sammeln, zu zeigen
und zu bewahren. Unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Gustav Deutsch und Hanna Schimek widmete sich das Projekt folgenden Fragestellungen:
Wie wird die Stadt von ihren Bewohnerinnen und Bewohnern abseits klischeehafter und repräsentativer Bilder gesehen?
Wie wird Wien an den Rändern und von diesen her in den Blick genommen?
Wie zeigen sich diese Stadtperspektiven in privaten Filmen von einst und jetzt?
Mit welchen Augen sehen unterschiedliche Generationen die Stadt?
Welche Stadtbilder haben Menschen unterschiedlicher Herkunft?
Gesucht wurden private Filme vergangener Jahrzehnte sowie neuere Filmaufnahmen aus Wien, in analogen und digitalen Formaten: bewegte Bilder von Alltagssituationen und besonderen Momenten, von
Freizeitaktivitäten oder privatem Engagement, von politischen Ereignissen oder aus dem Arbeitsleben.
Diese wertvollen Filmdokumente sollen für künftige Generationen bewahrt und hinsichtlich ihrer filmischen, politischen und sozialgeschichtlichen Aspekte weiter erforscht und systematisch
archiviert werden.

Vienna in Private Films - yesterday and today
The project "on the margins : the city" went into a second round in 2019. Our goal remained to collect, show and preserve private films and videos that literally or
metaphorically depict the city of Vienna on/from the margins. Under the artistic direction of Gustav Deutsch and Hanna Schimek the project addressed the following questions:
Clichés and representative images aside, how do inhabitants see their city?
How is Vienna appraised on and from the margins?
How do these perspectives on the city show in older and contemporary private films?
How do different generations see the city?
What kind of image do people of different origins have of the city?
We looked for private films made during the past decades as well as more recent film recordings of Vienna in both analog and digital formats: moving images of everyday situations and special
moments, of spare time and activism, of political events and working life.
These precious film documents need to be preserved for future generations. They will be treated as subjects of research and systematic archiving in accordance with their filmic, political and
social aspects.
9 Filmprogramme für das unsichtbare Wanderkino
Im Unsichtbaren Wanderkino – eine Hommage an den von Peter Kubelka konzipierten Filmsaal des österreichischen Filmmuseum in der Albertina, dem Unsichtbaren Kino – wurden täglich neun von Gustav Deutsch und Hanna Schimek kuratierte Filmprogramme von jeweils ca. 25min Länge vorgeführt. Dafür wurden Film- und Videodokumente des Hobby- und Amateurfilmschaffens vergangener Jahrzehnte aus den Beständen des ÖFM mit zeitgenössischen privaten digitalen Formaten kombiniert und zu thematischen Programmen zusammengestellt.
At the Unsichtbare Wanderkino - a tribute to the screening venue of the Austrian Film Museum in the Albertina, the Invisible Cinema designed by Peter Kubelka - nine film programs curated by Gustav Deutsch and Hanna Schimek, each about 25 min long, were shown. For this purpose, amateur film and video documents from past decades from the holdings of the ÖFM were combined with contemporary private digital formats and compiled into thematic programs.

Kompositionen von Studierenden der Musikschule Favoriten zu privaten Filmen aus der Sammlung des Österreichischen Filmmuseums wurden von ihnen selbst live aufgeführt. Aktuelle YouTube-Clips mit Musikschwerpunkt bildeten ein kontrastierendes Pendant.

Ausstellung
Historischen Filmgeräte, Objekte, Bücher und Fotos gaben Einblick in die Geschichte des analogen, privaten Schmalfilms. Ein öffentlicher Sichtungsplatz bat Gelegenheit, Privatfilme, die im Rahmen des Projektes gesammelt wurden, anzuschauen. Privatfilme konnten dem Österreichischen Filmmuseum übergeben werden.

Exhibition
Historical film equipment, objects, books and photos gave an insight into the history of analog, private narrow-format film. A public viewing site offered the opportunity to watch private films collected as part of the project. Private films were handed over to the Austrian Film Museum.
